Hello there! I hope you had a lovely week! Today’s post is a new one from a new blog series, “People Go Places”. This series is mostly the experiences of other people in new places. Hope you enjoy it!
Marvin Kamata, a young Kenyan university student recently visited Australia and here is what he had to say about it:
CW: How long were you in Australia?
MK: I was there for about two and a half weeks. From 21st July till 6th August.

CW:Which cities did you visit?
MK: Uhm, Sydney mostly but I visited Melbourne for a night.
MK: I’ll start with Sydney because I was there most of the time. Well, it’s so beautiful. The city. The suburbs. The University (since I stayed with my brother in a college there). And the sites? The beach? Breathtaking!
Melbourne was beautiful as well. But I stayed in the city for a night only so I wouldn’t know much about the place.
But I’ll say this, the cities I saw in movies was what I experienced in Australia. An awesome experience.
CW:Where did you visit and where was your fav. place of them all?
MK: I visited Bondi and Tamarama Beach, Opera House, Darling Harbour and Sealife Aquarium.

My favorite was the beach of course. My brother and I took a beach walk just taking in the beach scenery. And the water was very blue
CW:As a Kenyan, how could you compare the two countries?
MK: It’s sad to say that Kenya is years behind Australia. It was such a culture shock. And the people are nicer there!
But it’s indeed easier to grow financially in Kenya because of the division of resources.

CW: A place can be defined by its food, what was your favourite Australian meal/food?
MK: I ate Mac and Cheese for the first time. I have to say hated it :’) A Falafel as well. But I’m a meat enthusiast.
CW: What did you like most about your trip?
MK:The people. The people are so polite and kind. And you can walk in the town at 3 am without any hassle.
CW:What did you dislike about Australia?
MK:The cold! I played football at 9 degrees. My feet were numb in 10 minutes. I had to play with a jumper.
CW:Would you go back?
MK:Of course!
CW:Advice for anyone thinking about going to Australia?
MK:Prepare for a culture shock if you’re not a frequent traveler like I am. If you are? Make sure you go to the beach.
Have a lovely week!
