I hope you had a lovely few days. Today is not Sunday, but I wanted to do a middle of the week post. May this be the first of many. 🙂
Africa is a continent rich in culture and natural beauty and this makes me beyond proud to come from here. Other than the usual safari that you MUST take, there are plenty of other attractions. For this reason, I have come up with a must-do list that hopefully we may one day fulfill. Let’s get into this.
- Virunga National Park, Congo
At the top of my list is Virunga National Park that has almost half of the sub-sahara’s biodiversity. It is also home to one of the world’s most active volcanoes! African gorillas and chimpanzees are also found in the park.Treks and hikes are available to experience all these wonders. Read more: http://visitvirunga.org/
- Sossuslvei, Namibia
Sossusvlei is a salt and clay pan surrounded by high red dunes, located in the southern part of the Namib Desert. The area is majorly characterized by high red sand dunes. The attractions in the area are the Sesriem Canyon, Dune 45, Hiddenvlei, Big Daddy and Deadvlei. You can also take a helicopter ride round the Skeleton coast to see where the desert meets the ocean. - Victoria Falls, Zambia.
This is one of the most spectacular waterfalls on earth and one of Africa’s main attractions.Victoria Falls is the only waterfall in the world with a length of more than a kilometer and a height of more than hundred meters thus the largest in Africa. The main attraction there is the Devil’s Pool, where you swim close the the edge of the waterfall separated by a narrow bridge.
- Cairo, Egypt
Initially, I had assumed that Egypt was overrated and I wanted nothing to do with it but after doing my research, I must say that it is at the top of my list now. From Cairo Museum to the Pyramids of Giza to Al Azhar Park and the Mosque of Muhammad Ali. These are all an Architecture enthusiasts dream.
This island full of tradition and beautiful scenery is a MUST-GO.It is an archipelago of 115 islands in the Indian Ocean off East Africa. It’s mostly known for its beaches, coral reefs, diving, nature reserves and rare wildlife such as giant Aldabra tortoises.
Hope we get to go to these beautiful places!
See you on Sunday 🙂
